Nitto Tire and John Urist Win Three Back-to-Back NMRA Drag Race Championships
Last year Nitto and drag racer, John Urist, made NMRA class history when they became the first, and only, team to win three back-to-back championships. To celebrate this unbelievable victory, Nitto created an interactive website with exclusive interviews with John Urist and footage from his past seasons.
The videos explore John’s struggles in his early racing years and what it took to overcome them. John raced for 5 years before he ever won a single event. He even earned the nickname “The Fireball” after his car caught fire during a run. He had three burned-out engines in a single season. But he never gave up.
His determination helped him go on to become the only driver in class history to win three back-to-back championships.
