Default Invalid/Lag Help

Hey guys, if you're experiencing invalids read below.

To start, what are your specs? I run fine with:
Dual-Core, E5200 @ 2.50GHz, and 3.24GB RAM.

Of course this is an above average computer. I got it made by a friend and only cost me about $500. It could could you more for the same thing at other places.

I have found that if you run a dual core, about 1.50GHz, and about 1 gig of RAM, you should run descently. Of course I'd say these are minimum specs. If you have something below these specs, consider upgrading to something a little better. I'd recommend a desktop instead of a laptop because laptops aren't built for performance so they won't run Nitto as well.

Here are some things you could try before upgrading your system:

  • Make sure firewalls are off
  • Check you internet speed at www.speedtest.net. I have a 15,000 kb/s download speed and a 3000 kb/s upload speed with 24 ping and I run pretty well with that. My internet service provider is Comcast.
  • Turn off Graphics
-To do this look for the wrench/screwdriver icon in the top-left hand corner of your Nitto application window. Click on it and turn your spectator graphics to low and race graphics to off. This reduces lag tremendously. Especially for the lower end computers and could even stop your invalids.

    Step: 1
    -Select the wrench/screwdriver icon.

    Step: 2
-Change your spectator graphics to low and race graphics to off.

  • If you have Windows, use windows xp. Vista takes up a lot of memory just in itself which reduces memory that could be used to run other things. Then change your theme to Windows Classic and your color quality to 16 bit.(By changing your color quality you will notice a change in your Nitto icon's appearance)

Step: 1
-Right click on your desktop and select properties.

Step: 2
-On the Themes tab, select Windows Classic.

Step: 3
-Click apply.

Step: 4
-Head on over to the Settings tab.

Step: 5
-Find the Color Quality section.

Step: 6
-Change the color quality to 16 bit and click apply.

Programs You Can Download:
There are many programs that can help you run smoother.

Auslogics Disk Defrag: Here is my personal favorite, Auslogics Disk Defrag. You see, disk fragmentation causes PC slow downs, crashes, freeze ups, etc. Auslogics' Disk Defrag is the best around and it will speed up your computer and eliminate crashes by of course, defragmenting your system.

Here's the link to the download: http://www.auslogics.com/en/software...efrag/download

CCleaner: CCleaner is awesome and works well with Auslogics Disk Defrag. It removes unused junk files from your system, allowing it (Windows) to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

Look at what CCleaner can remove!

Internet Explorer
- Temporary File Cache.
- URL History.
- Cookies.
- Hidden Index.dat files.
- Last download file location.
Firefox
- Temporary File Cache.
- URL History.
- Cookies.
- Download manager.
Recycle Bin
Clipboard
Windows Temporary files
Windows Log files.
Recent Documents (on the Start Menu).
Run history (on the Start Menu).
Windows XP Search Assistant history.
Windows XP old Prefetch data.
Windows memory dumps after crashes.
Chkdsk file fragments.
Apart from these CCleaner also cleans old, useless junk files from Firefox, Opera, Media Player, eMule, Kazaa, Google Toolbar, Netscape, Office XP, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce, WinZip and more…

Here's the link to the download: http://www.ccleaner.com/download

You may also be running more processes than you need. Try deleting some, but make sure you don't delete the ones you need to run properly. How do you do that? Visit www.processlibrary.com. Simply run through all of your processes and type them in exactly how you see them one by one, read their description, and delete them if they are said to be non-crucial to your system.

I run all of these programs and follow these procedures atleast once a day and I run smoothly. If you can have atleast 1 gig of RAM(minimum), Dual Core Processor, 1.50 GHz(minimum), you use all the tips and tricks I offered, and you run all of those programs atleast once a day, you'll be zipping around the web in light speed and invalids and lag will be no more!

Here is some more invalid/lag help from some well-respected people from the community. Thanks guys?

Most times the issues with lag and invalid errors are due to a temporary broken/inconsistent connections made between the Nitto Server and your internet connection.

Before you go out and spend hundreds on new Ram and Processors try this Quick Fix to see if it helps with your Connection issues.

1. Go to Start/Programs/Accessories and locate the "Command Prompt" shortcut.

2. Right click the Command Prompt shortcut and select "Run as Administrator" from the drop down menu.

3. Continue with the Windows XP/2000/98 directions below at step 2.
Windows XP/2000/98: Release/Renew your IP address and Flush the DNS Resolver Cache:

1. Go to Start then Run and type the word "cmd" (without quotation marks) in the Run box. A DOS window should open on screen.

2. Type: "ipconfig /release" (without quotation marks) in the DOS window.
3. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been released.
4. Type: "ipconfig /renew" (without quotation marks) in the DOS window.
5. Wait a few seconds for a reply that the IP address has been re-established.
6. Type: "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotation marks) in the DOS window.
7. Close the DOS window and attempt to make a connection.

NOTE: If you are using Windows Vista (any version of it) make sure you run the Command Prompt as ADMINISTRATOR. As this will make a big difference.

Good luck.
Report back with your results !

When you run the test on speedtest.net, you're pinging to a server close to where you live, so your ping is going to be lower than it is to Nitto's server (unless you live in California) because it doesn't have to travel through as many routers (hops) to get there. If you want to test your ping to Nitto's server, open up Command Prompt (start>run>cmd) and type in "ping game.nittolegends.com"

Also, the time it takes to ping the server doesn't really matter as much as the consistency of your pings. If you ping once and get 100ms, then again and get 400ms then you've got a problem. One cause for this would be if you're uploading or downloading anything in the background. So shut down any Peer2Peer programs (like Limewire, bitTorrent, eMule, etc) you have running cuz those will cause lag spikes when new connections come in and when a lot of people are downloading from you.

And if anyone has any malware on their computers feel free to let me know and I'll help you get rid of it. I've been working with anti-malware for 4 years.

So make sure if you're using wireless internet that you have a strong connection and if your modem is working correctly.

If you're having problems with your modem reset it or unplug it for about 20 seconds then reconnect it.

If there's anything else you are having trouble with concerning lag/invalids or if you have any questions, reply here.

Keep your PC clean and running smooth.

Good job covering XP although playing in 16bit color must suck.

If you wanna edit your post to include that that'd be cool but if not I'll just leave this reply.
